Are your testing for leaks or trying to light the burner or what? Testing for leaks with a lit match is not a good thing to do. Starting the burner on the stove with a grill lighter is commonly done. Two different scenarios both are gas sources.
I do not know the wattage in a match, however there are enough BTU's of energy to start gas burning.

No, nothing like that John, Mainah had said in a prior post:
"Yeah a 1/16" gap can make a 5000 volt difference in the ability to make a spark."
and I was wondering what significance there would be in a 1/16" gap difference (3/16" to 1/4") to ignite a flame. I half-jokingly asked how much wattage was in a match because it seems that it doesn't take much to cause gas to ignite.
