Refrigerator Gas/Elect switch

Hello All,
Slowly getting things together, but had a question.

Have the standard Dometic 2way refer in my TT. The switch to change input is set to Electric.

I cannot get it to turn to Gas. It just stops at Elect.

Does this have a safety interlock that the unit has to be powered or hooked up to Propane for it to turn to gas position ?

No it should turn. There should be an "off" in between.

Off is all the way to left, then Elect, then gas. Goes from off to elect, but not to gas.

It is a mechanical shaft have a look behind the fridge from outside and make sure there is nothing impeding it's movement while some one inside turns it.

Your information was very helpful I just did not want to break it.

I was able to get it to turn, its very tight. probably been a while. And you were right, Off is in the middle.

I will try to lube it a bit and see if i can get it to work smoother.

I am really hoping the Refer works. Im not holding my breath. But Im hoping anyway.

Hi Ketch. Congrats on the Sunny. I also have a 1987 model. Believe it or not the frig still works. Yours may very well still work too. Yes the switch/button is a bit hard to turn. Not sure if it is due to age or it was always that way.

I am really hoping it does. Ive not been able to get out and work with it but hopefully this week. Its just been so cold.

They do turn a bit hard the gas valve takes a bit of effort but certainly not two hands! My old Toyota MH was a 87 and my sunny is a 90 both fridges worked fine. I don't remember the figures but they will cool to X degrees below ambient temp so the hotter it is the higher the fridge interior temp, freezes things when it's cool out and 40*ish on a warm summer day. They are slow to recover and it's not the kind of fridge you can open the door and think about what you are having for dinner but they work anywhere as long as you have propane. They keep my IPA's cold so I'm happy.

I am thankful for the advice. I got it to turn. It is pretty hard but sounds like somewhat normal.

I need to get out and get it running. Ive not had any time to play with it. Im anxious.

My first trip out for the year is early May It has a tendency to be below freezing at night up here!

For this reason I am thinking of adding an additional mini frig. I noticed during the summer that it did not do well unless the AC was running.

Running the AC probably won't help much it is removing the heat in the fridge to the outside air that's the problem. I don't think I have ever seen my above 40 even in the hot sun.They make some interesting AC/DC coolers but they are pricey. There is barely enough room to swing a cat in my T1700 If I added a small fridge it would have to be outside!

Yes, believe me I do understand. I don't have much room either. I have an electric cooler but it's not much better than the frig.
