I think this link should help you, see page 9. It refers to diagrams on earlier pages to describe which knob is which, but they're labeled A-E from right to left.

John,
Dometic intoduced the RM-1303, RM-663 AES, automatic energy selector in 1983.
But we had direct spark ignition water heaters and furnaces mid 70's
I remember the atwood thermal twin, a Pilot control, combo furnace and water heater in one unit, early 60's omg!
Randy is yours a RM-360 or 460 ? I guess...

I have a RM 461. questions:
1) 12 V is not needed when using 120 V ?
2) No propane gas needed ?
3) turn knob A so the word electric is at 12 O'clock when using 120 V ?
4) In 12-24 hrs with knob on Max temp should be at 34-36 degrees ?
5) Knob B has numbers. Turning this clockwise lowers temp ?

1-yes 2- yes 3-yes 4- it should be cool the air temp is a factor the unit will only cool X degrees below air temp. when it,s cold out it can get well below 30 degrees and really hot maybe low 40's. 5-I believe that is correct I have to look at mine to be sure mine has progressively larger bars.

John,
dometic had a reignitor listed for the rm- 461, like Randy has, so I assume you were looking at the year for "automatic" gas control ( like your newer unit )
Randy,
1 & 2 no lp or battery needed for elec 120 volt operation
3 yes elec at noon
4 at max unit will freeze in lower section
5 larger # the colder
