Rebuilding my floor

Well I have started a big project. We bought our “new to us 94 T2670” in June of this year. When we were packing for our July trip to Letchworth the wife noticed a soft spot in the floor in front of the kid’s bunks. I put down a piece of plywood over the spot and we went camping. While we were there the floor in the bathroom also started to get soft. Luckily I had some small pieces of plywood with me I’d bought for leveling so I placed them on the floor. We had a great two weeks at Letchworth, only rained a couple times and it was only showers in the evening.
When we used the TT for the first time in June I found a couple leaks in the toilet. I am not sure the previous owners even knew it was leaking. The insulation was so saturated with water that the floor was deteriating from underneath. I have the floor out of the bathroom and storage area under the bunks. I kept removing floor till I got to good dry insulation. I had to remove the hot water heater and furnace. Luckily there seems to be no damage under the kitchen cabinets, only thing I had to remove was bathroom vanity. I have had a fan circulating air through the TT now for a week and everything is nice and dry. I plan on treating the floor joist with an anti-mold treatment to kill anything before I rebuild. Some of them are real black but do not look rotted. After I treat the wood I plan on getting started on re-insulating and getting new plywood down. Lucky for me my garage is big enough I have my TT inside.
As for the source of the water I don’t really know. As I said I had a couple minor leaks in bathroom that I found but nothing real big. My pump does not run so I don’t believe it to be a leak in the lines or hot water heater. I have checked roof and it seems fine, this summer I did reseal the edges with Dycor. There are no signs of a leaky roof and I have sprayed the TT with a hose and looked around windows, lights and doors. I plan on checking the drain lines before I insulate. I think it may have been from toilet and just built up over time.

I know the name Rot Doctor sounds strange, but from everything I have heard it is good stuff. I picked this tip up from another forum member rebuilding their Sunline that had floor issues.

As for where your leak came from. Don't know on that one. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Only thing to add is check out all other floor areas for a soggy feeling.

My son came home with a soft spot in his girl friends PU. Well one spot turned into the next and soon 300 pieces of the PU where stripped to the frame was all over my shed. About 3 hours later...

3 months later and 5 sheets of pressure treated plywood the PU was rebuilt. The floor was totally gone and the rot went up the sides.....

I hope to pick up insulation and plywood this week and start rebuilding. Don't know how far I will get as hunting season starts this saturday. I will post some pics when I get done.

Here, I helped make them show up on the forum. To post a pic, you need the [img] command before the web address and the [/img] to close the command. You had them sized right(640 x 480), just not linked into the forum right. Start with the Http and end wiht the .jeg. The rest web hosting site coes we do not need and we can't link to it or view it.

PS. Try can cut the resolution down to less then 50K as well. Anyone on dial up any more really struggle.

I do not know fire fox. But I can see your command string is wrong.

What ever software you are using is adding way to many characters of something before and after the actual file path name. And as such this forum does not recognize the img commands.

See this post if it helps any.
How to post a pic on sunline Club

All I did was add the [img] command typed by hand exactly that way, brackets and all, or use the Sunline club IMG icon to start the command, then paste in ONLY the file path. Starts with http: all the way to .jpg then we end it with a [/img] command. You can type it by hand, brackets and all or hit the IMG icon a 2nd time after the file path. Nothing more before or after.

Are you just cutting and pasting in from you photo server? Some photos sites add the right command strings, others do not. But most all have the base Http:…….jpg raw format the same. You are pasting in to many other commands.

Hope this helps as we want to see what you are up to. That is quite the project and we get to see how Sunline built the campers.

PS can you see on your screen where I posted your pic's and do you not see them on your post? If you can see them on mine and not yours, then fire fox must accept the standard[img] commands.

Even stranger....Some how I could see your pics in my preview pane under your post when I was typing my reply, but could not see them out on the open forum. On the forum I can see they have the wrong img commands. What's the difference, good question.

Well I called my friend at the lumber store yesterday to price out my floor. Turned out not to be as bad as I thought for materials. At his his recommendation I will be using a 5/8" exterior grade plywood. He said this would hold up well and anything is better than the old chip board. I had asked about marine grade plywood but they do not stock it and it would be special order. My project is on hold now till the end of Oct as I am heading out today for hunting camp.

Well I finally had some free time so I got started on my floor project again. On Sunday I put down new insulation and started laying the new plywood. I will post some new pics later in the week.

I had some linoleum left over from when we built the house so I used it up for the storage area. Furnace is back in, need to hook up tail light wires and then the hot water heater will be going back in.

I have to replace a small section of wall board in the bathroom behind the sink. When I was putting down the floor I noticed a soft spot in the wall. Luckily it was only behind the sink.

We went to Lowes today and pick up some Swiftlock laminate flooring. Cant wait to get that down, its going to look real nice. I plan on taking the carpet up from in front of the couch and putting down laminate. Suppose to be real cold here this week so prob wont get to work on TT much. I will post some pics of the finished project.

Well I have had my floor finished for a while now, just have not had time to take and post pics of the finished project. Today I grabbed the camera and headed out to the garage to take some pics so everyone can see how the floor turned out.



My toilet was to low so I built a 3" riser.







I took out the carpet in front of the sofa, left carpet under the sofa so items stored there wouldn't slide around.
