Propane tank cover/Removal

I have the standard propane tank cover, didn't order the upgraded one.
Also have the electric tongue jack option.

Removing/reinstalling the cover is is pretty difficult. I have loosened up the propane tanks and slid them back what little I could in the channel they set in. Hoping to get a little more clearence between the tanks and the jack upper housing, but I'm still have some trouble with the preceedure.

Anyone have any tips advise on what I could do to improve the situation.

Thanks

My cover moves easier as I move the tanks closer together. This is done with adjustment at the top clamp which has slots which hold the bottles down. I marked the slots so I use the same ones when I replace the bottles.

Too tight actually popped a few of the original plastic fasteners pulling it on and off. I replaced all of them with brass bolts, nuts and washers.

Thanks for the tip. I read your post and went right out to the camper, made the adjustment and bingo. cover slides on and off easier.
Just brought the one tank in one notch on that top clamp as you mentioned.

A while back I also had one of the plastic fasteners pop as you did.
Larue from Sunline sent me some new ones, they were of course still in business then.

I seam to "now" remember, when I first got the camper the tanks were in a similar position to what they "now" are. I guess over a period of time I must have moved that one tank over that notch and didn't realize it.
Now one tank is on the futher most notch on the one side, and the other tank is just one notch in from the end.

Since I posted this earlier, I went back out to the camper, and checked for leaks with soapy water. Sure enough I had a small leak, right where the gas line comes out of the tank thru the plastic "Coupler fitting", I just loosened up the tanks and turned the tank a little an the leak was gone.

I haven't used the camper for a about 20 months, now I'm remembering how sensitive my gas lines are to leaking, I have to have the tanks, exactly lined up to the gas line or I get a small leak where the fitting goes into the rubber line comming out of the tank.

Thanks Again appreciate it.

Glad I could help. Now, mark the slots with a Sharpie so every time you replace a bottle, you'll maintain the same adjustment.

Don't know about anyone else, but with the tanks on the middle to inner upper tank bridge settings, granted the cover is easier to remove, but I've had one lift about 1/2 way off going down the road on my Gulfstream Innsbruck (30# tanks).(*) Moved the tanks out to the outer setting, and the cover is a tight fit now. Hasn't come off in 8 years. I noticed the cover on my T-2570 can get quite loose on the inner or inner and mid(mixed setting) settings of the tank bridge. It has brass bolts, washers and nuts on the perimeter. I now put the tanks on the outer settings and wiggle the cover up and off. It will take a bit of elbow grease to get it on, but the cover won't lift driving down the road.
