paint the bumper

Well, as good as like to think we are . I blew it.
My intention was to repaint the rear bumper. Some one previous to me did the same thing and made a mess. So, with all my expertise (I'll show him) I decided to sand everything down and do it right.

I sanded the whole bumper down filled a couple mini size holes, sanded primed and waited....and then painted the entire bumper.
Problem is, it has been an exceptionally cool spring and more rain than I want to talk about. Even though it didn't rain it was still cool.

Me and my infinite wisdom decided to put two coats on the bumper using Tremclad. I have used Tremclad numerous times before and it has always turned out nice.

This time, not so.
This what happens when any one of us get impatient (which I was very).
I think what happened is the metal of the bumper was way too cool for the paint to adhere properly and it turned out wavy and sort of lumpy.
I even warmed up the can of paint under hot water for a good period of time.

So, this impatient person has learned yet another lesson. I'll wait for the hot summer, sand it all down again and repaint. I think it was because of a long hard cold winter and our spring has not been that great and I was eager to get things done. Some times I just hate Mother-Nature. She can be cruel and we all battle with Father Time.

That is kind of funny, in a way. I have a small wood wishing well planter I got from the local "unfinished wood" store that I wanted to stain and varnish. I put it in the covered section of my deck and sanded it and on a nice warm day I put on the stain. Well, the nights are still cool so 3 days later the stain seemed dry enough to put on the marine spar varnish ... sigh. I put on the first coat of varnish on a nice warm day and waited 4 days for it to dry .... sigh. Maybe I will get the third and final coat by next weekend. .... sigh ....
