Our slide won't work on our 2001 sunline solaris

Hello,
I hope someone here can help us. We recently purchased a 2001 sunline solaris travel trailer. During the demonstration, the slide worked fine and it worked when we first got it home. But, while camping, the slide will no go out. There is a noise like it is trying to work, but nothing. I took the motor off and checked it and it runs great, I put on a new switch plate, but nothing. Any suggestions. It is very frustrating to have to get underneath and crank the slide in and out.
Thanks,
Garry

... and fully charged. I understand those things use a lot of current.

Hi Garry,

What model is your Sunline? And do you know brand slide system you have?

The big super slides worked different then the little sofa slides. Do not know what system you have.

Can you described the "noise like it is trying to work"? Does it sound like a clutch ratcheting like on a cordless drill chuck?

Since you took the motor off and it runs fine, then we have to back into is the excess drag on the system creating my power draw then it normally delivers or what the problem is.

Need to know more about what slide until you have in order to better help tell you where to point to. Any chance of some pics of the slide system underneath in case you do not know the brand slide unit?

Hope this helps

John

slide not working

Thank you so much for your help. Luckily, the problem was our battery. We were told it was fully charged but, it was not. After a few hours on a battery charger, the slide works fine. We are learning the hard way, but at least we are learning.

Thanks again for your replies and the help.
Garry

Happy to hear it was something simple! By the way our theory on this forum is there is no such thing as a dumb question......so if you have any other questions....just ask away!

Good deal it was just the battery.... And yes the slide pulls a lot of power needing the higher charged battery.

Thanks for reporting back

Have fun with the camper

John
