mysterious hoses

Last night, we hooked up the garden hose to the travel trailer to test all the lines and see if there are any leaks. We own an '83, it is new to us, but obviously - not new. No leaks inside, which is good, but right underneath are 2 hoses, very small, less diameter than my pinky finger, that were shooting water out and straight down. Not just flowing, but the water had some pressure to it. Anyone know what this is? I didn't take pictures, but can if necessary.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum

You will find allot of information here and people willing to help.

The goods news, the TT had been winterized. Those are your low point drains. Mainly used for weatherization. Look around trailer in area where they come out and you will find shut off valves.

Thanks so much! I went out and found 2 very small pvc pipes under the cabinet that were pulled out. I pushed them down so I guess now they are closed. We'll see. I'll try to run the water through again later. Thanks so much for your help!

And thanks for the welcome. We're excited about our TT. We went from tent to pup and now TT and we have a lot more to learn so hopefully we can learn it here.

Hi, something does not sound right. I'm just reading the words you used. But again your older camper may be setup different. When you said you pushed the pipes down, just pushing a pipe is not normally a shut off valve.

Do you mean you turned the small handle of some type of valve that was on the pipe pointing down under the camper?

Hope this helps

John

Welcome to SOC!

Something in your first post caught my eye.

You will probably want to purchase a white drinking water hose made of FDA-approved materials so it doesn't leach chemicals like a garden hose will. They can be found at any camping supply store, RV dealer or even Walmart.

Wishing you many happy times in your "new" Sunline!

Indeed, welcome! This forum has been invaluable to us; when you join, you don't just get a lot of great technical advice---you get a family of people who really care about you.

As to your problem: it does sound like your low-point drains were left open, although as John B. says, just 'pushing' on the PVC doesn't sound quite right.

My older Jayco had black push-pull valves on the low point drains. Maybe that's what he meant

Yes, they are the low point drains. In my 82 21RB they are located under the front dinette seat. The drain valves are push/pull poppet type. Push to close, pull to open. There is a little o-ring inside that can be replaced if you notice a drip from the drain pipe under the trailer.

Hi John, I'll take a pic to show you, the pipe has 2 things sticking straight up from it that you can pull up or push down. I still haven't tested it, but it does seem to be an "open / close" sort of thing and the position of it is inside the camper, directly above the 2 hoses that had the water coming out.

Hi Clueless Campers, thanks for the tip. We do have the drinking hoses, however, this was an initial set up just to see if we had any leaking. We didn't bother with the drinking hoses until we knew we would actually be able to use them. Thanks.

Hi, yes a pic will help out of curiosity. And from the others posting you are pushing on the valve itself attached the the pipe.... Not just pushing the pipe. I have never seen one of these, the newer units use a different type of valve with a little lever on it.

Thanks

John
