While the normal Teflon tape will have of level of working, they do actually make special Teflon tape for LP gas.
And if you are going to buy something, if you go in Home Depot, look in the gas section and the gas tape has a yellow color plastic holder as opposed the normal white rolls. The actual gas tape is a slight off white in color. This is the brand they sell
Yellow gas rated tape
They also sell Gas rated Teflon goop sealant with a brush in the can. This is the brand they sell in Home Depot for gas
Gas rated PTFE paste
I agree if it is flared fittings, no goop/tape needed. If it is NPT, then you need goop. You should not have actual compression fittings, meaning the straight fitting with a compression ferrule on gas systems. Gas uses flared fitting or NPT.
Once you connect up, use soapy water over the connections and look for leaks.
Hope this helps
John
