Lighting alternatives

Most of my fixtures use the C-921 bulb so I wanted to get a few spares to put away. I didn't want those expensive LED replacements but I thought I might find a smaller wattage for some use while dry camping to save power. The C-921 is 18W.

In the T-5 base which will fit the sockets, here's what 12v bulbs you can get at auto stores:

C912, 13 Watts
C-922 12 Watts
C-918 7 Watts
C-915 9 Watts

I bought a couple C-918's for lesser used lamps or one side of a double fixture and put away the 921's I took out for spares. I bought a couple 918's in yellow also for sometime use in buggy times. It's enough light for occasional use and uses half the power.

I found a LED that costs under $5 from SuperBrightLED's online.

It's a bit dim, but draws .05 amps compared to the others which draw a considerable amount. I'm thinking we're talking very small potatoes here, but just thought I'd let you know there are some inexpensive LED's.

Now we just saw numerous LED's at the Quartzsite show that are amazingly bright, almost brighter than the stock bulbs and still only draw .05 amps. But these were like you said, very expensive at around $35 per bulb I'll wait till that price drops drastically before I'd buy any. But they'd last the lifetime of the camper with 100,000 hours of life.

Thanks for the info. We had bought a few of the 12 watt bulbs for a few of the fixtures that are just used as accent lighting.
