I cannot get me hot water heater pilot to stay lit. I light it, heater clicks on, but then when it clicks off the pilot goes out to. Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

This sounds like an older all gas unit. And sounds like it may be the thermocouple that has to stay warm to keep the pilot burning may not be working.

If you can help give us a year, make, model and serial number of the HW heater we can see if we can find a service manual for you.

Hope this helps

John

Try here. Pages 8 to 11 may help.

http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/atwoodwaterheater.pdf

I was looking for a pilot flame adjustment. Seems the real old ones had one but they later eliminated that.

You may have to make a U tube manometer to test if the main LP tank regulator is holding at 11" WC. The main tank regulator being a little low then the pilot may not stay lit.

They also have instructions about adjusting to make sure the pilot flame totally engulfs the thermocouple so the thermocouple warm up enough to send the right voltage back to keep the pilot lit.

Since the system lights and the main burner runs, that is a good sign. If the pilot flame is totally engulfing the end of the thermocouple, then that sort of points to a weak thermocouple.

Hope this helps and good luck.

If you are not comfortable in making any of these adjustments yourself if you have a gas repair man he can help. These heaters work very simailr to the older home gas hot water heater Or an RV dealer.

it might be this

One place I have used. Best to call them and order
RV Air Conditioner Repair Parts Online Catalog - PPL Motor Homes

Need model and serial number. They do have an online catalog with exploded views. You have to hunt and peck to find it. Calling may get you there more accurate. They listed $48.09 plus shipping for the picture above.

Hope this helps
