HELP...Toilet leak, replacing vacuum breaker???

I pressurized the water system yesterday for the first time to de-winterize and found a leak when I flush. Upon inspection I fould a large crack in the vacuum breaker on the back of the toilet. I have the Traveler Lite Toilet Model #210 with the sprayer. It looks like a simple fix by replacing the vacuum breaker assembly. Does anyone out there in SOCland have any experience replacing this assembly? I have not pulled it apart yet, but it looks like it just seats into a rubber seal? It it really that simple or am I walking into a landmine?

Hi Joe,

I've never done one myself, but I did sell a lot of them last summer from people having issues from winterizing. I'm guessing it's somewhat simple since they weren't scheduling to bring it in to have it put on. I'll admit most people brought in the piece, so I never once got asked how it goes in, in which case I would have been able to go ask how to do so.

Jon

Although not on your particular brand of toilet, I did replace a vacuum break on a Thetford toilet last week on a friends Dutchman trailer. They had failed to winterized their rig and the vacuum break in the toilet and a number of other items in their trailer were damaged. Anyways the repair was actually very simple. I first removed the toilet from the rig. Once out I could see the vacuum break was held in place by two screws which were easily accessible. To replace the unit I disconnected the hose screwed onto the unit and then removed the vacuum break. The new one screwed right back into place, I connected the hose I removed and replaced the toilet. The longest part of the entire project was going to the RV dealer to buy the new part. If I did not have to go pick up the parts the entire repair would of taken less than 30 minutes. Pretty much the repair difficulty was a 1 on a difficulty scale of 1 to 10. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you for the reply, Trailblazer and Jon!

Went and picked up part today. Very simple, maybe 10 min. start to finish. It does just seat into a rubber fitting, couldnt be any easier.
