Fridge Question

I got a new to me 1986 Sunline Saturn 1550 and the previous owners changed the broken fridge out to a normal house fridge. Does anyone know where or what model fridge i can put back in. Thanks

Hello stephwallis1,

I have a 1987 1550 and according to the paperwork from the previous owner it came with a Dometic 2300. I have the original "Floorplans & Specifications" brochure and that's what it says. If the 1986 came with the same then you may be able to replace the house frig with the replacement for the 2300. I attempted to attach a Dometic replacement chart that I found a couple of months ago. Hope it helps.

Tommie

stephwallis1,

There is a copy of the 1986 Saturn brochure in the Files section. You can take a look at that to determine the model of the original frig. It looks like it says RM361 but you can take a look to make sure. There is a lot of useful information in the Files section. A lot of good resources on this site as well. Other owners who are friendly and more than willing to give you as much information as they can provide.

Congrats on the new-to-you camper.

Tommie

BTW: I think the Dometic frigs are expensive which may be why they opted for a regular house frig.

Congrats on the new camper. Tommie gave you some good information. Dometic fridges are in a bunch of different campers (my old Shasta, Prowler and now Sunline all had them) and in all sizes. You may want to check the space of the old fridge to make sure that everything is there(110v power outlet, propane gas line, 12V). All the ones I had could be powered the 3 ways so check the spec sheet vs your model to see what set up it was. When the tree went through the Shasta, I sold everything on ebay so I could recover my lost cash to work on a replacement. I made decent money and someone got a working unit without having to buy new so I would check to see what sizes fit your camper and start looking on ebay, local craigslist or on line for "used RV Parts Dometic".

Best of luck, keep us posted and always remember, we all love to see pictures of your camper.

Steve

Depending where you are used ones maybe plentiful they are real pricey new and so are modern 12 volt units. A dorm fridge is kind of useless unless you are plugged in, they draw too much power if you use and inverter and a battery to be practical. If mine went toes up I still would buy a new propane one I can store far more power in a 20# tank than I could in 10 batteries.
