The model of the fridge would help us. A couple of things to check:

RV absorption fridges need 12 volts from the battery even when running on 120 volts AC. That 12 volts powers the control board.

Outside the trailer there is an access hatch behind the fridge. Inside that hatch you should see a round metal stack heading up toward the roof vent. The heating element inside that stack should feel very warm.

RV absorption fridges take a LONG tome to cool, 8 to 12 hours is not unusual.

If it cools on gas the fridge is fine I don't think yours has electronic controls if you have to light your gas with a push button it does not. So if it works on gas the stack should also be hot on 120 volts. There is an electric heater inside the boiler tube that does pretty much what the gas does there should be a electric outlet inside the out side door for the fridge that should have power with the rest of your outlets you can try a lamp plugged into the outlet to be sure. The electric elements do go bad. I generally run mine on gas all the time it uses so little propane it just is easier to run on gas and I'm dumb enough not to switch when I have no power. You can buy a replacement but hold on to your wallet so if it works on gas then it's a lot cheaper to repair the one you have.

There are options but none that really work are cheap (google DC fridge). There are several modern DC coolers that run on the camper batteries meaning if you are out for over a couple of days they will need some type of recharge solar or other wise. They have chest types and dorm sized fridges. The dorm 120 volt units are a option if you only camp where there is power and would be the cheapest. Good DC coolers start around $600 and that kind of money would buy you a new gas one they are faster cooling but you loose the ability to be off grid for days. I'm sort of a techie person but I would not give up my gas fridge even though it's a hundred year old design.
