That fresh water fill spout is the normal hole size. You really do not screw on a hose to the spout you took the cap off. That is, if that is what you tried to do. They do sell fresh fill spouts that go on the end of a standard garden hose fitting. Camco makes them and I’m sure others too.

Think of this like putting gas in your car. You stick the gas nozzle in the spout hole in the car. The fresh tank fill is the same concept. Just you may need a hose spout to screw on your fresh water hose to make the spout.
