Extra Key

When we purchased our Sunline T-1950 from a private seller he only had one key to the entrance door. Where is the best place to get another key made. I have been to a couple of key makers and neither one could duplicate the key. Any suggestions?

Give them a call. Make sure to have your key with you when you call. They should be able to send you an exact replacement already cut, you'll just need the number from the key.

If for some reason they can't help you, you'll have to visit an RV dealer. They will most likely have the blanks. Then you can take the blank to a locksmith. A couple years ago it was uncommon to find a two sided key, but now that that's becoming more common, you should be able to find a locksmith that can duplicate it. A lot of hardware stores even have key cutting equipment too.

I highly recommend Fastec, I ordered a complete lockset and several extra keys from FIC and the whole order was less than $25 including shipping. Very fast service, had them in less than a week. All they will need is the key number and your shipping/payment info.

Spare Key

Thanks Jon. That sounds easy enough. I knew someone would have the answer. I just don't want to press my luck with having only one key. Thanks again.

My coach came with one useless key. Maybe that's the one that was meant for you?? Anyway Sunline was still in business and they gave me a blank which my local hardware easily duplicated. So if you can get a blank from an RV dealer that would be far less expensive than mail order.

Actually HenryJ, the several that the local locksmith cut didn't work and would have been more than the one from FIC even with shipping, the local guy didn't charge me because we never got one to work. This guy was able fix the broken lockset though, still have the one I ordered for a spare.

I've been meaning to order an extra lockset so both doors are keyed alike, but that's on the same page with the slide topper and center awning support. I haven't read that far yet...

Mine too came with five door keys, two for one door and three for the other. I don't recall though which door it's for. It's in the manual at home!

I had the door on my Sunline keyed to match my house (one less key to carry) and had all the other keyed things changed to match each other. My trailer (got it used) came with about a dozen different keys. Now it's got three, and one's my house key. It would have two, if I could find a padlock to match the storage doors' key.

An RV store should be able to supply you with a replacement door knob with a compatible lock, and any locksmith can change it to match the house.
