Exterior Paint Color for 1981 Sunline Travel Trailer?

The trailer's a beige/white color. Does anyone know of a good matching color from one of the major paint manufacturer's that matches well to the exterior aluminum of the trailer? I can always take a sample, but if someone has found a good match already I'd rather ask than experiment. There are a lot of touch up area's I'd like to paint so it doesn't look so spotty and old.

I have an 89' and have the same question... One thing I may do if I can't find something store bought you could try if you want, I have a local auto body supply place that has told me that if I bring the camper to them they will color match and preload shaker cans for me for around $20 a can... I may go that route if I can't find a good Krylon or Rustolem color...

That's exactly what I did with the striping for my '97. I didn't want to try to put a decal on the door again, so I painted the stripes with that matched paint. SEM custom paint. Very happy with the results.

Given how much the pre '92 paint faded at different rates, I wouldn't trust a general color code to match now. If you want it to match correctly, get it custom matched.

yea I'd like to avoid having to tape off and repainting the entire camper, figured they would custom match the color/finish so I could just go around and touch up, or at the very least you wouldn't notice spots I missed when I went over the entire camper...

H'mm, custom matched paint from a scanner. Great idea!!! Thanks! Had not thought of that.

The scanner machine I've seen is a little picky, it needs a sample fairly large. For example, on '97 striping, there are three stripes in three colors. The outer two (a little over an inch wide), the machine could do. The middle stripe, which has small overlay stripes of the other two colors, it couldn't do because it couldn't pick the correct color. So since it's solid color vinyl, we flipped it over and had it scan the adhesive side, which is solid gold all the way.

So moral of the story- they should be able to use it on a flat spot of aluminum to match the color. But, matching striping already on a trailer may be difficult, due to the stripe mounted on curves. Luckily the place I worked mixed up a small sample of paint to color check to the stripe before they made up the spray cans.

If the paint used in SEM custom fill, the paint itself is quite thin, like water. A good thing, if you are painting something and want a nice smooth coat, but difficult if you want to touch up and cover a bad spot. It might be worthwhile to ask them what base paint options they have, to see if they have something better suited for touch up. Also be sure to ask if the paint is UV stable and glossy. In my case, it isn't UV stable and I have to clear coat it after to protect the finish.
