Dometic Fridge Roof Vent Cover

Well this past weekend we had a close encounter with some low hanging trees on a campground road and now have to replace the cover. Interesting I never heard a thing, but noticed it a branch sticking out of the vent cover when I got home. I used Gorilla tape to seal up the whole when I noticed it last night. I was lucky and was able to source a replacement cover locally today. However when looking at it to determine the style cover I noticed I also lost my rain gutter extensions on that side of the rig as well as have a nice long scratch down the side.

The cover looks easy enough to change. It appears to be held on by only 4 screws. Hopefully I will find time to get around to doing it this coming weekend and will try and take photos of the process and post them.

Guess it is a good job that I always keep a close watch on my roof and check it after a trip so I can pickup little things like this. Boy these 5'ver sure do make tighter turns than a TT

Bill, if the scratch isn't too bad this Protect All product will do a good job to minimize a scratch that hasn't penetrated the gelcoat. It won't do anything for a decal scratch though.

Bill, dig out the Dicor in the 4 screws on top of the cover, unscrew and it comes right off.

This post might help with pics

Good luck and sorry to hear about the branch. Good news is it was not the roof....

Henry, Thanks for the tip, I will give it a try as the is is only surface scratches. I was lucky that no damage was done to the decal.

John, Thanks for the link. You pictures show exactly how I thought it was attached. Although it was frustrating when I saw the damage I was at least happy the branch didn't go through the roof itself.

While up on the roof removing and duct taping up the cover I noticed the A/C Shroud is looking pretty brittle so I think I will look at replacing it too. I saw your link to the replacement one you purchased from Manitoba and will probably order one as well.

I replace the cover tonight. It took all of about 5 minutes. I didn't take any pics as the link to John's pics show everything you need to know. Thanks to John for posting his link.
