Hi, still rebuilding this Solaris, REALLY close now, another weekend or 2 it will be complete and then I promise I will post lots of pics I keep promising, but time is tight right now as we are trying to beat the weather.

Anyway, I have a question. I saw this someplace here but can not find it I saw something about covering your decals with a clear protective tape, what is that and where do you get it? Had the big Sunline logos redone and want to preserve them this time.

Also, does anyone have a good high resolution pic of 2003 or so, Solaris logo that is normally on the sides of the camper? The pic I sent them was not good enough and they said the resolution is too low so the decals didn't turn out I can NOT find a good pic of those logos anywhere!

Most sign shops use that protective material. They should have plenty in stock.

If you had the logos redone by a sign shop, they should have offered you the UV protective coating. It's normally part of making up custom vehicle signs now.

You might can search thru the photos here and find a logo you might use. Maybe.

I did that treatment in 2009 and it is still going strong on the original decals that it worked on.

The protect film works very well on a smooth fiberglass surface, like the entry doors, cargo holes and front rock guard or water door etc.

It does not work well, (meaning lasts long) when going over a corrugation in aluminum siding. On my VIN sticker, it is holding up well and that is aluminum siding but the sticker is small area and does not across a crease. That is the key, a crease line in the siding. If the sticker goes across a crease of aluminum siding, moisture can get behind the protective film at the crease and over time it lifts the film off.

On my front big Sunline decal, I used 3 stripes of 6" wide tape. I have found over the years the tape shrinks slightly and exposed a slight air gap which was tight when I installed it. Ideally you can find a roll of protective tape wider then the large decal. But the 6" pieces still works and saved my front big decal and all the others on flat smooth surfaces.

Mine too is holding up well still. I have a little bit of dirt behind the film in the creases, but other than that, no issues.
