Couple underbelly questions????

I was under our 2006 T-1950 and was surprised to find an access port under the shower. Surprised mostly because I never noticed it. It is just a piece of black plastic with 2 screws on one side over a hole cut in the Darco (other side is tucked between Darco and frame), the plastic has a 5 hole pattern in it on top of the 2 fastening holes. Is this standard from the factory? There was a surprising amount of mud thrown up through the holes (we drive a lot on gravel in our travels).

Second.... holes in the Darco membrane (I think that is what the membrane is called). I have a lot of holes in the membrane from rock strikes. Most behind the tires, but some also here and there. The small strip between the rear driver tire and the bumper - outside the frame (3" strip between the frame and siding panel) is really shot full of holes up to an inch. Is this something others see?

My 2004 t-2475 also has an access panel under the shower. Afraid to open it up and see what's up there. Don't know about the holes. Maybe cover them with black Gorilla tape.

Thanks! I opened it just to see what was up there . The opening is perfect to get to the shower drain trap, but you can see the bottom of the shower pan and there is mud all the way up on it, apparently going up through the 3/16" holes in the cover. I'm finding several products used for fixes of the membrane. JohnB in another thread has talked about Flex Mend, I'm hoping there is some feedback regarding a quality repair product that will stay put.

Many Sunlines have the access hatch on the underside below the shower. That's how they finished the shower drain plumbing after installing the shower.

I agree on Gorilla tape to patch the Darco. Just clean the Darco well and then press the tape in place. (Accept no substitutes! Regular duct or duck tape won't last.)

Those holes in access panel are there to detect trap or drain leakage. So water don't fill up underbelly and get your insolation soaked

Makes sense that you would need to get in there to finalize the trap plumbing. Thanks!
