Centurion 3000 converter

Hi I bought a 2001 Solaris T-2965 with a Centurion 3000 S.A. DE C. V. CS 4500. Everything was working fine when I first bought it. Now its home plugged in with a 30 amp female to 15 amp male adapter and only the outlets and the water heater work. No interior lights, fridge or AC. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Centurion converters have been known to go bad. Do you have a battery connected to the trailer? The items you describe that work are 110v, and the interior lights and refrigerator need 12v to work. The A/C will only work on 30 amp, you could do damage if you try to run it only on 15.

The converter does have a small 12v output to charge the battery, and without a battery hooked up, you should be able to run a few lights at most. If that 12v output has gone bad (often what seems to fail first), it won't put out anything, which means it won't charge your battery and it's only a matter of time before your lights and things will drain it completely. Also, without a battery connected, nothing would work.

If you do have a battery on the tongue, it's possible that it's completely dead. If you didn't disconnect the battery when you parked it, and if it wasn't plugged in, the LP gas detector will drain the battery in just a couple days. Sometimes you can charge it back up, but draining it completely and it staying dead usually isn't good for them.

A Progressive Dynamics converter seems to be the popular replacement, even though I don't have personal experience with replacing one.

That is a switching supply so the battery and lighting are connected together the older chargers had two separate circuits. Dead battery,no battery, battery switch turned off converter fuse blown, toes up converter or 30 amp battery fuse? Some converters would not work with out a battery connected so plugged in or not you would get no DC. The later ones did not need a battery to operate.

Your battery is located on the tongue of your trailer behind the LP tanks.

If you found the battery, and are still having issues let us know. And let us know if you have a voltmeter and familiar with using it.

Do a battery voltage check at the battery and let us know the voltage. Assuming you have a digital meter, we need the decimal places on the voltage. One full volt is a lot on a battery. Do a voltage test at the battery, both when you are not plugged into shore power and when you are plugged in to shore power and the battery connected. That is a real good place to start and the 2 voltages will tell us some how your converter is working or not. From there, we can point to where to look next.

If no voltmeter, then look on the tank panel next to the stove in your pic here

It is the white thing on the wall with the water pump switch in it. There should be a button for "battery" press it and read the number of lights lit. Tell us how many lights there are. Do with battery only connected and then when plugged into shore power. While those indicators lights are not the most accurate, they are better than nothing.

Hope this helps

John
