Brake Lining Mileage

I just finished repacking the wheel bearings and inspecting the brakes. Everything looks good and seems to be wearing evenly. This is my first trailer with brakes so I'm wondering how much mileage I might expect from the linings. With at least 10,000 mi. of towing I have about 5/32" lining left.

I know everybody's driving and loading is different, but I have no idea how much 5/32 even is. What is the new lining thickness, or what percentage have I worn off now?

Thanks,

Henry

Hi Henry

See if this helps any.

I did do a base line on mine. This was after 1 year of camping in our T2499. I'll have to look up the mileage when I get home next week estimate like 4,000 – 5000 ish miles at that time. If you have 5/32” left, like 0.156” that is still a fair amount of brake left Do not expect to see the heavy lining like are on cars/trucks. I measured 0.281 including the metal backer that is probably like 0.060 to 0.070 unless you remember yours. So mine was in the 0.221 – 0.211 range at around 4 - 5K miles.

Hope this helps

John
