Box Elder Bug Mess-Need Advice

Hello All,

I believe these are droppings (or hangings) from box elder bugs that are stuck to the camper. Darn bugs go up and hide under the cover in fall and make a mess

I tried to washer the camper today and I have to scrape each one off with my fingernail and there is still a spot there. Soap and water doesn't touch them.

Any one have any suggestion? I don't have Awesome, will have to pick some up (have black streaks) soon.

There are thousands of these things stuck to the outside- to remove each one would take forever Hopefully the pic will show size compared to tail light.

Don

Hi Don,

Never had Box Elder mess, but do have smashed skitter and other insects all over the front of the camper.

On the Awesome. hose wet the area, spray on Awesome direct, scrub with spinge or soft brush on pole, kep a wet edge, and then rinse. Do not let the Awesome stay on a long time and do not let it dry or you will have to start all over again.

On real bad bug stuck parts have to do it over again on ones that where missed or use a Mr Clean Magic Eraser which is a very mild fine abrasive. I ahve used them on the aluminum, side with no issue however do not uese them on a car hood with something very high gloss.

Hope this helps and good luck

John

A Mr. Clean magic eraser should do the trick...

Thank you guys for the advice

I will have to go shopping and give it a whirl. The side facing the east and the back facing the north got the brunt of the abuse. Hopefully it will desolve with little scrubbing or it will take me several days to get the spot off. I would like to get it cleaned up and then wax it, hopefully the wax prevent the next issue this fall!

I used a Pampered Chef scraper tool (used for cleaning off Stoneware) that is about 2.5" square with different radiuses at each corner. That worked faster to get the chunks off but then there is a dark brown dot left, and boy is it tough to remove.

I will keep you all updated as I attack it!

Don
