Black tank repair

Last trip out I noticed a smell under trailer. Looking under I seen a drip drip. I dumped and flushed good at end of stay. Upon arriving home I found a surprise. The PO had hit the bottom of black tank and cracked it then patched with fiberglass and metal window screen and painted black. I was so busy checking roof seams and frame for rot I missed the tank patch. I cleaned fiberglass off and prepped area for Plasti-Mend patch , hope it works.

Hope it works half as good as they claim. Hole is in the worst place possible.

is the plast mend working well for you? i saw today on my camper that the valves and pipes are ok. there are several tiny holes at the junction of the black tank and the valve(?) right at the edge of the tank. so i want to try the plast mend if it's recommended and that should take care of it for now. unfortunately it looks like it can only be ordered and the rv store didn't have a good alternative. so i'll have to wait to be able to use the toilet at my new place.

So far so good. Placti-Mend comes with reinforcement screen to help reinforce and cover holes. Mack C-85 alternative may work on cracks but for spanning gaps I would prefer a solid bridge first.

Update
It's been 2 years (and many gallons) now and patch looks as good now as when I finished it. No leaks

Update on black tank repair.
Here we are year 3. Many miles and many outings later the patch is still holding and looks good.
