Bed platform stuck "up"

Trailer is a 2006 Solaris T2075. The platform on which the mattress sits has a hatch of sorts, hinged in the center of the platform, which can be raised from the foot of the bed. There are two struts/ shock absorber types, one on the inside of the platform on each side of the bed, that are used to keep the platform up. They are now stuck, holding the platform in the "up" position. Does anybody know how to release them to get the platform down? Thanks for any help.

Rob

Disregard my post. So my wife comes home and says, "I can get it down. You just lift it all the way up, then gently push it back down. It will go right down." Of course it will. After all my pushing, twisting, etc... It's great to have a good wife. She's the best. "I do it all the time, I clean in there every spring."

Hey Rob,

Glad to hear you were able to get it down. On other brands, I've seen a locking strut on a bed platform, but I don't recall ever seeing such a thing on a Sunline. Pretty cool though, the strut had a sleeve on it that popped to the side once the bed was up. You'd have to push it over to center to release so the bed could go down. I kinda wondered if yours had been replaced with those, but it sounds like no.

From your description, I'm not sure if your mattress is on the platform right now? Full strength struts (not tired) are designed to hold up the platform and mattress. If it's just the platform, it will be pretty difficult to push down.
