Battery box for the 2653

I was shopping for batteries yesterday (For another project) and asked about battery boxes. The salesman asked what size battery I had and suggested a 24-31 box. I had never heard of one and asked to see one.. He said it could hold a 24,27 or a 31 battery. He brought it out and showed it to me. I didn't see the need in buying a big box, until I saw how this one works. I especially liked the price!



The top snaps down and locks in place. It does come with a strap, to secure it to the tray also.



It has a moveable divider in it, to allow for different sized batteries and to keep smaller batteries from sliding around in it. I intend to use a group 27 battery on the 2653 and I'll still have enough room to mount a battery cut-off switch to the side of the box!



The box only costs $9.99 and I thought that was pretty good...

Gee Gary, no evil straps on top and only 10 bucks???

Thanks for the post. When my2 Grp 27's ever die, I'm thinking 6 volts or grp 31's. I suspect I'll be in this decision in about 2 years from now. Collecting ideas along the way.

The two batteries I bought, were group 31 sized 6 volt batteries.. 200AH each!

I bought same box at Walmart. If u notice another nice feature is the vent holes are hooded to help keep water out. Room for a top mounted cut-off switch I got at Harbor Freight. Still need a strap to hold it down.

Ah, a portable welding setup.....

Frank, (screen name Frank) did 4, 6 volt's to get to that status...

He also had a fuse setup that helped solve the short situation. He has a post on here somewere on it.

I had a box with those snap down thingys on it. After a couple of months, the plastic warped a bit and it was a stone b!tch to get the top off. I wound up cutting the tabs off and relying on the staps to keep the top on. At $9.99, I bet you'll have the same issue shortly.

I've had one of those boxes for about three years without any issues. I had to replace the battery on a camping trip and the only battery in could get wouldn't fit my existing box, and that was the only box available.

I plan on securing it with a strap anyway, so I could just cut the tabs off ahead of time!

Thats cool no straps.. I went to take the Battery out of the TC it was bolted to the floor, lid screwed on and had a vent house to the outside. It took me a few to get it out..
