Are you sure it isn't related to a roof/floor leak? When the wood structure starts to rot, it will cause the trailer to smell inside and you can't get rid of it until you replace the rotted wood.

There has to be something that works on smells..I'm not about to start taking down walls & floors to locate rot that may not be there.

I hear ya and agree 100%. But chances are if you can smell rot, you will see it too without tearing the walls apart. Discoloration (dark tint) in vinyl flooring, wrinkled wall panels, wrinkled ceiling panels, etc. Check everywhere, inside cabinets, under beds, under furniture, etc.

I've heard a number of different tricks to removing smells, everything from leaving little dishes of open vanilla extract in the closed trailer to using an air deionizing machine. In my case, none of that worked because I ended up having the rot issues.

I've also tried the little smell be gone orange things, and I've cleaned the carpet/furniture with a carpet cleaner. Shampooing everything seemed to make the biggest difference.

I used something called "Zero Odor". My camper smelled quite strongly of mothballs from the previous owner. It took two treatments but the smell is gone! It comes in a spray bottle and you can get it at Bed Bath and Beyond or Amazon. I tried a carpet cleaner and just airing it out but the only thing that worked was Zero Odor. It comes in a spray bottle and you just need one bottle at about $12. I would spray all the carpet and fabric surfaces, mattress too, thinking that the smell is in the cloth. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
