Awning repair tape?
First trip out was excellent. Only a couple of issues. One is the awning has ripped about 8 inches. It has been taped before, but it did not hold. Is there a really good brand of repair tape? I see two or three brands online and some do not have good ratings.

i got awning repair tape on ebay for cheap it was a 15 foot roll in green package, and really really sticky! i used it on a small spot where someone decided to force the door open with the awning not fully up, (i think she had 2 too many beers) just put it on this weekend, tough stuff, if i could ever get to it from the top too it would be super strong

Hi Deb,
I have used the brand that 1979Sunline linked to. At least I think that is it, it looks like it. I will check at home tonight.
I bought the brand at Camping World and it does not list what brand it is
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/rv-awning-repair-tape/5441
The awning must be cleaned first. Then carefully apply and try to keep it taught when applying as once it sticks it is not coming up easy.
I have used it over small holes, a tear, about 1” long on the ends and last yea along the entire top length of the awning as the sun has killed my awning. Lack of TLC from the prior owner for any UV treatment on the awning.
All my repairs I would consider them good with 1 exception and I do not know what changed. About 3 years ago I applied a piece over the tear on the one end of the awning. It is still good as the day I put it down. However over the winter the long piece on the top by the roof rail/gutter has cracked??? Do not know why and I even UV protected it. It is still holding but it has cracked oddly enough. The awning is on borrowed time now anyway so it will be replaced soon.
I do not know of any other brand. And I will check tonight that the link provided above is the same stuff.
What brand did you see with the negative comments?
After doing a search, there are a few brands out there and prices for the same brand do vary… I see Camco now has a brand as well.
Hope this helps and good luck
John

I checked last night and my roll of awning repair tape is out of the package in the camper repair kit. I do believe it is the one 1979Sunline linked to.

Thanks! I ordered it from Ebay and we'll take your good advice on how to apply. We should be set with repairs in a few weeks !
