aluminum siding corrosion

My 2000 SR-260 has developed holes thru the siding all the way around the coach about an inch up from the bottom. My guess is that they are caused by steel staples interacting with the aluminum siding (dissimilar metals). How much of a job would it be to replace the bottom course of siding? Is there another solution? Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated, Sunliners!

If you want to change the siding, that is an option and if your going to change a piece, the bottom is the 1st to come off.

That said, since you have a SR model it may be built up higher then the non SR models. Any chance of pics of the corrosion?

Siding corrsion can come from what you describe however a water leak issue can also cause it. A pic might help us narrow down the possibilities.

For siding removal, see this post. This is on the slide however the main camper comes off and goes on the same way.

Lots of pics in there

Hope this helps

I've had one do that corrosion thing before, and it does occur right about at the floor level. Since that part of the aluminum was different than the rest, you could definitely get some new to replace and you'd have to replace the whole length, but at least it isn't more than that. Your biggest challenge would be to get the 90 degree bend.
