Air Conditioner Thermostat

We have a T 1950 and we run the Air until it gets to cold and the turn it off until it gets to Warm. Is there anyway to put a Thermostat on a Air Conditioner in a T 1950.

your therostat that is in the coach is the termostat for the air it should cycle the air on and off as it reaches the set temp. unless you are set the fan switch to the on postion and not auto . if it is in the on position it will run continuously . good luck Dan

With the small coaches, like the 1950, they have non-ducted AC units. The controls for the unit are right on the ceiling and you just choose the how cool you want it. You can't set it for a certain temp and have it cycle on and off. I'm not really sure why they haven't changed this, I guess they just don't want to modify what's been around for 20 some years.

The return intake is still on the bottom of the unit, it's just much smaller than the ducted versions, and the cold air ducts vent out either end of that whole panel.

I'm not sure if a thermostat could be retrofitted. I suspect the easiest way is to get the whole lower AC unit and install it. I think the top half should be the same. You may end up having to install a couple ducts on each side of the unit, which would require cutting in the ceiling, but as long as you found a cover that directed the air toward the front and back instead of right in the center, you could probably do it.

Maybe there is a way to modify to just add in a thermostat, but I think this could be difficult.

Hi Mokid

Find us a model and serial number of your AC unit. Can attempt to look it up and see what you have. And hopefully there is an online wiring diagram.

I had a PU with Coleman Mach AC unit in it and even it had a T'stat....

Are you handy with electricity? Do you have a volt/ohm multi meter?

John

Air Conditioner Thermostat

The Air Conditioner is a Dometic

Model Number 57912531

Serial Number 50333426

I took these numbers out of the Appliance Identification List which came with the trailer.

I am handy with electric and can get a Volt/Ohm meter.

Thanks for your help.
