A/C Fan Quits

The fan in the roof unit (Dometic Duo-Therm w/heat strip) of my 2499 appears to have given up the ghost. I can get the A/C to operate but the fan doesn't move. Turning the fan on at the thermostate (moving the fan switch from "Auto" to "On") accomplishes nothing. No circuit breaker has been tripped. Has anyone else experienced this problem and might this be something I can fix myself. I'm reluctant to get into the guts of the unit unless I'm sure there's something I can do myself.
Thanks,
Don

I know of two people to have had the AC fans "freeze".

They go to the roof take the cover off, spin the blades, and the fans free up. The AC works for a few more weeks, then it happens again.

I know that at least one of them found a related recall on their unit. Both have Class A's, and one time BOTH AC's fans froze.

Don,
Are you trying to run the A/C at home? If so, the unit won't work if you don''t have a 30 amp source to run it. I thought mine was broke also as I had operated the A/C once. The next time I tried it, wouldn't turn over the fan. I took it for repair and the tech found nothing wrong with it. It worked every time. You need a 30 amp source. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice. I was hooked up to the same outlet I've used before when the A/C ran so I assume the problem is with the fan. I'll climb on the roof and give the fan a spin and also check out the recall situation.

Follow up: Rather than taking off the top of the A/C unit, I spun the fan blade using a dowel poked through one of the cover's louvers. After that the fan kicked on with no problem. Let's hope that cures the problem for good.
Thanks again for the help.
