82 sunline trailer electric brakes
Hi,
I need to replace the electric brake assembly's on my 82 sunline tt. Does anyone know the name of the company who made the axles?
Thanks
John

They may well be Dexter axles: Dexter Axle - Trailer Axles and Running Gear Components - HOME for more info.
Just so you know, there are a couple of sizes of brakes and shoes that are no longer made so unless you can find the parts (others have searched with no luck), then you may have to swap out the entire assembly.
But don't panic. First see what size you have and try to get the parts.

Those would be Kelsey Hayes. They were used on Sunlines through like 1990. I believe there are sources for some new shoes, but the other parts are very difficult to find as they aren't made anymore. Dexter brakes are far superior in performance, reliability, and ease of part sources over the Kelsey Hayes.

Hi JohnK
This site may help
Trailer Parts Superstore - Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies
I have bought many running gear components from them and had a positive experience.
If you can convert to the entire brake plate ass’y it may be a whole lot cheaper. There are a few things you will have to check. Drum ID and width which is easy. The 4 bolt pattern and hub pilot to accept the new Dexter brake plate. Dexter has very good free tech service to there customers. If you cannot find what you are looking for on there web site, you can call and I know they will tell you the bolt hole patterns hub dimensions so you can match up yours. Once you get the right Dexter PN’s then you can shop the parts on line.
Hope this helps and good luck. Also if you can post back on how you make out and ideally with some pics, this will help others as this topic does come up from time to time on the older campers.
John

Dexter has a 10" by 1 1/2" assy that doesn't appear to be had either, not listed anywhere except for a stray set of brake shoes....if you need to change the magnets u need to also change the actuater arm( anything before 4/90).. I am going thru this now and cant get inspected and can't get parts....most the 10" brakes are 2 1/4" shoes.

I was not able to change out the entire assembly. The plate is not removeable. So I have to replace the parts seperately. Oh well....
