2005 T2363 Solaris Lite

We bought a 2005 T2363 used last November. It had a prior water leak in the back left (drivers side) corner that had been "repaired". It was re-sealed. When we took it out for the first time, the clothing rack fell out of the ceiling, and we noticed that there was wood rot. We cannot see up into the rafters to see if there is rot there too. The rubber roof is a funny brown like color in that corner and it is soft to touch. We had someone look at it and was told that the entire roof should be replaced, and that it has a cardboard underlayment that is probally causing the rubber roof to look wavey. He wanted $2200-2500 to replace the roof with plywood and put a new rubber on. We dont have a problem with adding the extra weight as we tow with a Nissan Titan V8. Has anyone done this themselves? Is it crazy to think we can do this ourselves?

Welcome to SOC!!

You could definitely do it yourself!

Where in Virginia are you?

The roof on our fifth wheel had some leaks that we did not find, until six months after we bought it. I have a friend in Virginia, that does RV repair for a living. He repaired all the damage, installed new plywood and had us up and running again quickly!

Here's a picture of the major water damage:

Damaged roofing removed:

New plywood going in:

New adhesive being applied:

Looks good!!!

Once he was done, he put up new gutter and sealed everything up tight. We now have an 8X8 area of the roof that is full walk-on!

He also found some rotten wood under the bedroom and replaced it all too...

The whole camper is now solid and very well sealed!

Hey again Mary...

I just looked in your profile and see that you live in Winchester! That's where I grew up and I now live near Martinsburg... If you need any help with your Sunline, Kitty and I would be glad to help! We're only a stone's throw away!
