2004 toilet leak at top when flushing

Hello - My toilet in my 2004 2670 is leaking at the top valve body when you flush it. It weeps out where the valve assembly is that takes the water from the foot valve and runs it into the tank and around to the hand bowl rinser. It only leaks when you flush it, which makes sense since I believe that is the only time that portion has pressure in it.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I have not pulled the assembly yet. My apologies if it has already been answered but I could not find a similar issue posted about.

Thanks!!

Here's a thread on replacing mine, mine doesn't have the hand sprayer, but this should give you some idea what's involved.

Thanks Mack C-85. I should have included a picture on mine, my probably is actually the assembly on top of the toilet, the one that gets sent water from the valve you replaced. Probably something very similar, I will pull it and see if the RV stores have anything similar to rebuild it.

Thanks again!

Hi John,

I have not had the leak but I have some pic's of my 2004 Sealand unit. These may help. Your leak may be as easy as the hose clamp on the valve that goes around back to the vacuum breaker/hand sprayer.

If you end up having to buy a new valve, heads up, they sell it 2 ways, with the recoil spring installed and without it. Go for the valve "with" the foot pedal recoil spring installed. That spring is a real bear to get in place. A fellow SOC member had one apart at a M & G one year and he asked if I ever installed the spring, not at that time but I looked and fiddled with his for a while and it was a real challenge. I did buy a spare valve, with the foot pedal recoil spring installed after seeing his.

Here are the pics

The side cover

Here is the valve cover lock. Push in on this button looking shape and then the cover will pivot out towards the front

The valve

Hope this helps and report back what you find.

John

John I just replace my Sealand Vacuum Break kit/w hose P/N 319054 (part number may vary). It cost $35 shipped to my house in NY from CA and it took 2 days to get it. I will look for my receipt to give you the vendor I used. He was very helpful and the price was great not to mention fast shipping.

I had to rotate my toilet to gain access to the vacuum break valve but it was really easy and it went back together really easy as well. I used a little Dawn dish soap to ease the hoses back on their nipples and to slide the vacuum break into the back of the toilet. Super easy fix, it's been a week and I have put it to the test. I filled the toilet to the top and flushed it at least 100 times. I was testing the valve and cleaning my tank at the same time.

Here is a picture of the vacuum break kit that I needed. It has the second nipple on it for the rinse hose.

If you don't have the rinse hose and want one now is the time to add it. Same part just with the extra hose which is nice to help with cleaning your toilet. This will cost around $45-$75 depending on how hard you search the internet.

Hope this helps, oh and if you want the vendor I used just ask I'll go look up the receipt.

Adam

Adam - That is great info and looks exactly like the part I probably need. It is the valve on top of the toilet that has a feed from the foot valve and then goes into the toilet and over to the rinse hose right?

Thanks for the advice, if you find the receipt that's great but I should be able to find the part online

Hi John,

OK, sorry I miss understood your note when you said the "top valve body when you flush it"

You mean the vacuum breaker up top. Looks like Adam has you on the right track of the parts, here is the vacuum breaker pics

Hope this helps

John
