Hi Mani,

Do you have more pictures of it? It looks like the striping has been painted/covered over, so identifying the year isn't as easy as it could be. It is definitely between 1986 and 1989, not 1993. My gut is telling me it's a 1986 due to a couple small details.

It looks like one of Sunline's 8 1/2' truck campers models, and I'm going to say it's likely a C-850 Runabout due to the lack of ladder or evidence of a ladder being installed on the back. But I'll need more pictures to confirm.

Assuming I'm correct on the year and model, dry weight is 1675 lbs.

Hi Mani,

"Lying" about the year and weight of a truck camper is actually quite common. I'm not sure what state you are in, but most states don't require titles for truck campers. This means it's just sold on a bill of sale, which doesn't have any sort of official information on it. The camper would have come with a binder of information originally, but these often go missing. So people guess at the year and weight of a camper because they have nothing to go off of and don't bother to research.

Truck campers were assigned VINs/serial numbers just like trailers were, which can help confirm the year. Unfortunately, the easiest way to see this number was via a sticker that was stuck to the outside rear wall next to the door. Like the trailers, these stickers didn't weather well and mostly disintegrated by now unless the camper was kept inside a barn most of the time.

As for the 2006 Sun-Lite. Sun-Lite and Sunline are two unrelated, different companies. Sun-Lite was built by Sun Valley, Inc. in Bristol, IN. I don't know much about them other than they existed and are often confused with a Sunline.
