Wiring Problem

Having a wiring problem and a mobile repair guy has now spent 4 hrs at $165/ hr. and installed a new converter and still a problem. Bought this privately and don't have the wiring diagram. Anyone know where I can get one for a 1998 Sunline T-270SR?

Hi Joe,

While this wiring diagram is not for your 98 T-270SR, it is the only one I am aware of here on the forum. This was for my prior 2004 T2499. Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files - Sunline Solaris T-2499 Wiring Diagram

It will give the basics of most campers in both the 120 VAC and the 12VDC wiring of the main camper. Yours may be slightly different but is a guide to help.

I do not know if you are electrically friendly or not, we may be able to help with troubleshooting your system. If you or a buddy of yours is electrically handy we can help point where to look but we need good info to help better.

Pictures of the inside of the power converter showing the wiring connections clearly is a good place to start along with what exactly is the problem now, how did it is all start and what was done along the way.

I'll throw this out on a wild guess, if the issue is with tripping a GFIC outlet in the house or power post when you plug the camper into shore power, after upgrading a power converter, this often times comes from mixing up the white colored wires. Sunline used white as a wire color for both the AC neutral wire (solid wire) and the DC common wire (stranded wire). Those 2 different white wires are never to touch. A common mistake is to put one on the wrong terminal and then it will trip the power source GFI every time.

Hope this helps

John

I guess it would help with a description of "still having a problem" You have two electrical systems in your camper and they are not compatible with each other one supplies 12 volts DC (battery type power) the other 120 volts AC (same as a house) One end of the converter is connected to the 120 volt system the other end is connected to the 12 volt side this is what makes power for your lights, fan, and water pump and charges your battery when you are plugged in. If it is the GFI tripping JohnB is probably correct unlike a house the white 120 volt RV wire is not a ground but the white 12 volt DC wire is. So any thing beyond that is another issue.

Thanks

Thanks. I’ve got that. Apparently one of the lights had a lose wire nut and the positive was touching negative sending power through the ground wire. Would still love a wiring diagram but probably not available anymore

RV wiring diagrams leave a lot to be desired a little picture of a box leaves a lot to be desired. At least you will know what it's supposed to do but not much beyond that. Connecting the dots is where the fun comes in.

H'mm, OK I'll explain some more. See if this helps.

This link below will take you into our files section. When you are logged in, you can click the link and it will take you to a page with a "Download" button (presse it) and it will let you down load a PDF file of the only wiring schematic we have.

Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files - Sunline Solaris T-2499 Wiring Diagram

Let me know if something does not work with the download.

John

Semi decent diagram for an RV. Interesting only two possible outlets that are GFI protected. It's kind of interesting that the galley outlets are not or the microwave.

The galley does have a GFI next to the sink (water). The outlet symbol they used indicates the GFCI, by the label key. Just did not call it out in text like they did on the outside outlet. Don't know if you noticed that.

The microwave is not on one. I'm assuming since it is a single pole receptacle for just the microwave and you cannot plug anything else into it. The outlet is buried up in a cabinet away from the sink.

Yeah your right I missed it. Code basically says if you can touch both at the same time it has to have a GFI.

Hmm.i have a full original book from Sunline for my Advancer I'll take a look and see if I have a different diagram.
Sometimes these P&ID style line diagrams are the same for multiple units.

I have not seen a wiring diagram show up in a manual yet for the whole camper. It would be nice if they did.

The one diagram we have linked above, which has similarities to many campers, I called Sunline and requested one specifically for my year, model camper. They gladly sent me one.

Sadly, we can no longer call them. Bummer, such a great company with a great product went out.
