Wheel Well Trouble

2002 T2670. Why anyone would put the sliders for the drawers upside down just passes me by. In the process of flip over the rail sliders I noticed a wee bit of light coming in from the wheel well on the passenger side of the trailer. Not the pretty piece on the outside, it's directly above the tires. A closer inspection revealed duct tape and whatever. I would like to get on with a repair as soon as I can. Has anyone dealt with this? Epoxy, epoxy and some sort of fabric? I think they are plastic and plastic can be a bear to repair. Hey I made a rhyme. Thanks.

Those I've seen are polyethylene and pretty flexible, so a repair will be tough with glue (won't stick). If the repair is small, I'd think about stitching it up by drilling small ones and wiring the crack together and pasting with something like dicor lap sealant or 3m 5200 (messy, but cleans up with mineral spirits and a rag). you could rivet a small patch on (aluminum bent to shape or plastic) and seal with something like dicor or 5200. The wheel wells are available, you could replace the whole thing. Those I've seen are just stapled on.

Thanks for the reply. Good ideas. I know some plastics are a bear to fix. Trying to find something that will hold can be frustrating. I'll probably get time to pull the wheels next week and can get a better look see.

We had a tire cut loose on our Travelstar a couple of years ago and it took out the back half of the wheel well, the floor and cabinets. What a mess. Then wheel wells were made of aluminum and I used dome old siding that was laying around to fashion a repair. Lots of silicone sealer and pop rivets. Not pretty, but it worked and heck, you couldn't it unless you crawled underneath and actually looked for it.

Try rubbing ABS solvent on wheel well. If it melts or softens then it is abs and can be repaired.

No. ABS is the black pipe

Being low on funds we searched around the house for an acceptable and cheap fix. A fix that we were comfortable with. I didn't take any pics, sorry, I didn't think to do that at the time. Anywayz, it looked like the previous owners had a tire come apart and it broke the the wheel well. Some of the plastic was missing, some was bent out of shape, and it was split along the 'ribs' about half way back. We came up with some heavy plastic that was flexible and that we could cut to cover the destroyed area. Cut and test fit then used a generous amount of an adhesive/sealer. At each end of the patch we used a piece of aluminum to cover the plastic. After we were done and happy with our patch job we thought maybe some black spray paint would be a nice touch and finish it off. We found some, sweet, closer inspection revealed it was some sort of black or plastic spray. It came out very nice.
