What's the fix?

I have been in and out of the many entries regarding the damage &/or possible to frame and tongue of trailers. There are lots of explanations that I really have problems completely understanding.

Has anyone come up with a solution that we (non-technical people) can use to "save" our trailer? If so, it might be a good idea to post it as a new post. Please remember to use layman's terms and explanations.
