The more I think about it, I think I like SUN 768 as Frank noted above. SOC, I suppose, implies owner and SUN would be more generic as in SunlineClub and avoids classing people as alumni, owners, ... whatever. While I like the emblem/graphic idea and something with sunlineclub.com a simple SUN 768 could be easily done with stick on letters from Lowes, Home Depot, Staples etc.

Just my 2 cents ....

Hopefully Sunnybrook/Sun Valley/Sunray/Sun Lite owners aren't considering doing the same thing...

The Sunray and Sun Valley groups shouldn't be too much of an issue since there aren't many Sunlines out west.

I think some sort of design for the SOC should go with the numbers even on non-Sunline models. How do we know what the numbers might be for on other than Sunline Coaches? Will people think the numbers are for this group or just another rental unit or some park identifier?

If we all use the same font, color, size, and placement of the numbers, we'll know.

I agree. Frank (nasa42a) has a Sunnybrook. People may see it and think it is for "Sunnybrook".

If not the logo (which would need to be printed and purchased from a particular place to be consistant), then at least "SOC" instead of "SUN".

We need to decide on a font, color (black is fine) and size. Letters and numbers can be purchased just about anywhere. If you don't want all the leftovers from packaged decals, any print shop could make them to order, or we could print our own like Paul (pwb01).

Is it any wonder the nations of the world cannot unify when our tiny Sunline nation of a couple thousand will probably beat this subject to a pulp. Doing nothing may become the default identifier with so many variations already being offered by so relatively few members.

Sunline Fan, good point on all the other brand names which can easily see SUN as a logical prefix for a similar pursuit. Now that I think about this a little more, no prefix or suffix would be fine since just our membership number would suffice for the intended purpose of IDing another member while on the road or in camp. All our Sunlines already have their identity courtesy of the factory original tagging. Less stickers sounds like a way to minimize this and possibly get it into use before the end of the season. Less is more at times!

I like that idea too!
Gets my vote, too!

Now as to numbers - I don't care what my number is or how it was determined or who assigned it.
What difference does it make as long as there is ONE official list to correlate names and numbers?
(Please, please don't tell me there are folks here who would be miffed if they joined before I did but there number was higher.)

I also suggest that the moderators step up and make an executive decision. Let's "git 'er done!"

LOL! @ Bob. Since we aren't trying to spend trillions of taxpayers dollars we should take longer. This is our money.

Some TTs do not have any logo at all on them. Mine for instance. A simple SOC could do. I don't know if I could read 4" letters on the other side of a interstate doing 60. But then who knows?

As Drake points out, not all of our Sunlines have the logo's on them courtesy of age, etc.

And this kind of flies in the face of several SOC alumni who already expressed the desire to be included. Having SOC as part of the number includes everyone.

Here is Arial font, 4" black lettering. I could easily read it from over 150' away.

Sorry to disagree, but the Moderator's job is to take care of the forums, not to decide policy or plans for this group. I would much prefer that those of us in on this discussion come to a consensus and then offer the program to all of the users. It is all voluntary anyway. Most people will go along with it if they have confidence that those with an interest worked on it diligently and came to a mutual decision.

I think we are close to a consensus. Given all the discussion in the last day or two, I'll offer 4" Arial black lettering: SOC 264 as a proposal.

I have sent a post to moderators about making a decision or at least putting up a poll with a few choices for all to decide. We should be able to have something consistant soon.

I guess worn out Original markers are an issue which makes using them for this purpose a less worthwhile option.

Actually seeing Steve’s example of 4" Black Arial makes me think of smaller font as perhaps being less obnoxious. Phew…those are huge letters!

But I do still like SOC–015 best.

Yeah, the 4" seems huge from 25' away, but if you tried to read that across the center median of an interstate on an oncoming rig, you might be grateful for the size...

I am comfortable with SOC-264 or SUN-264 with or without the dash. I don't see a need for the # sign.

My personal preference would be green letters, but I'll go with the flow on that.

My two cents.... we can put up a poll if you like but it seems that the discussion has worked it's way around to a good solution.

Regarding the SUN vs. SOC notation - I chose SUN # XXX for the avatar block for several reasons. Our URL is SUNlineclub.com not Sunline Owners Club. i thought this might be confusing. SUN is a bit more generic and could extend to anyone who participates - even non Sunline owners. We have some members here who used to own Sunlines and no longer do, but they've made friends here and continue to participate - it would be nice to include them and perhaps in time, they'll own again.
SOC is also the abbreviation for the Socialist party

It's fairly easy to change the avatar display once a final decision seems to have been made.

I like SUN 074 rather than SUN #074 or even SUN-074. Simpler is better imo and it's fewer letters to have made.

.02 cents

I decided on no tagging for me...I can't afford the driving distraction, and my wife always snoozes so we'd never notice them anyway...I'll bow out of the discussion, and wish good luck to those involved.

Quick question, I noticed the numbers on the left under everyones names, What are they?, I thought they were your "joining up" number but I have 1003, I know I was the 1000th member.

Look back in this thread and you'll see the reason. The first member was number 3 and you'll see this if you go to the members list. Janet was kind enough to take time to add data fields to see the member numbers under your name and in the members list.

OK, it works.

We were headed north on Route 30 almost to Northville when a Sunline came at us in the southbound lane. Just under the driver side marker light up high was that small Sunline logo and the number 258 that pwb01 showed us a ways back. Yup, Paul and Sheri on their way home from Sacandaga (belated wave, guys.) We were in the Jeep and they were by us before we figured out who it was.

Paul's number were pretty small so I could not read them until they were almost next to us. But they were readable. (Personal note: I would not want to try to read them across the center median on an interstate.)

So my guess is that the 4" letters will work really well for us.

I am going to check with a sign shop here in town about getting 4" die cut vinyl lettering that is pre-spaced and ready to apply. Once I have prices, I will post them here. I am going to get just black letters, 3", Arial Narrow. (The 4" Arial still seem too big.)
