Weight of 93 Solaris T 3060

Hi Trying to find what the weight is of our 1993 Solaris T3060. From NADA specs they claim just over 4000 lbs. For some reason I thought it was over 7000 lbs. Anyone know for sure? It will be empty, or near empty. Thanks for any info. Bob

According to brochure listed in files section of this site, weight is 4755 empty, 7000 gross.

The 7,000# is the maximum the trailer can weigh loaded.

Your best bet is to take trailer and tow vehicle to a CAT scale and weigh them. Typically this is recommended to be done with both trailer and tow vehicle loaded for a trip. But you can do it with both empty to provide some insight to how much cargo capacity you have. Or do it both empty and then again loaded. Then you will know what the weight of your cargo is.

CAT scales typically have 3-4 scales.
I would recommend taking a minimum of 2 weights positioning the trailer and tow vehicle like this:

Weight 1: Trailer tires on 1 scale, rear tires of tow vehicle on a separate scale, and front tires of tow vehicle on 3rd scale.

Weight 2: Disconnect trailer, have Trailer tires on 1 scale, trailer jack on 2nd scale, and both tow vehicle tires on 3rd scale.

From these weights you will know what the weight of the trailer and tow vehicle is.
Here's what you can do to figure out the trailer and tow vehicle weights.

Add from Weight 2 - trailer tire weight + trailer jack weight = total weight of the trailer.
This weight needs to be below 7.000#.
If weighed empty the difference between 7.000# and the weight is your cargo capacity of your trailer.

Add from Weight 1 - rear tow vehicle tire weight + front tow vehicle tire weight = total weight on tow vehicle.
This weight needs to be below the GVWR of your tow vehicle.
If weighed empty the difference between GVWR and weight is your cargo capacity of your tow vehicle.

Weight 1's rear tow vehicle tire weight is the weight on your tow vehicles rear axle.
This weight needs to be below your tow vehicles rear axle weight rating.

Weight 1's trailer tire weight is the weight your tow vehicle is towing.
This weight needs to be below your tow vehicles tow rating.

Adding all 3 weights from Weight 1 gives you your combined towing weight.
This weight needs to be below your tow vehicles Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR).

Weight 2's Trailer Jack weight gives you your trailers tongue weight and lets you know how much weight the trailer is adding to your tow vehicle.
Note, a weight distribution hitch will transfer some of this weight to both axles of the tow vehicle and some to the axles of the trailer.

I was asking, because I sold my truck. And replaced it with a Durango that was a tow limit of 6800lbs. I have to tow the camper to it's winter inside storage, about 15 miles. Not sure if I should rent a uhaul or use Durango. Any thoughts?

I don't see any problem towing with the Durango. You're not going far and you're pretty much empty. Well within your towing limit. Make sure you have an operational brake controller, even for a short trip.

Agreed, the Durango should be fine for that short trip, with a brake controller and weight distribution hitch.

The older Sunlines did have a lot of storage space, so they were rated to carry a lot more weight because of it. Still though, you're thinking right to plan a tow vehicle based on the heavier GVWR, since the trailer could weigh up to that with stuff in it.
