Towing a Sunline with a Honda CRV

We've driven from NH well into Nova Scotia towing our 1982 Sunline 15.5 SB. It seems to ride very well and have encountered no problems.

We've averaged just over 21 MPG. SIncerely wish someone was making a truly light trailer with a little bigger bathroom.

On to Labrador

We have completed the hard part of our Newfoundland, Labrador, quebec trip towing our Sunline with our Honda CRV. The roads we drove truly follow the contour of the land and have driven 100's of 10-18% grades, both gravel and paved, wet and dry.

The trailer has a 100 small dents but did well otherwise. The Honda handled the towing with ease, mostly in 4th gear and 3rd on most of the hills.

We've learned a lot about trailers in tough environments and intend to make a lot more modifications to our 25 year old toughie.

Labrador is wild and wonderful.

Hey Norm, I'm very entrigued with you adventure. Cindy and I would really love to do this same trip in the future. Is there anyway you could put together something like you did when you were building the camper up for the trip, so we could read along and see how it went?

I'd love to learn a few things from the adventure for our trip.

Thanks, and I man would we love to see some pictures!!

You're towing a 1550 with a Honda CRV with a 4 cylinder engine?

Towing thru Labrador

If you would like pictures and some information from our log send me an email at normacs@aol.com and I'll send you some information. I will say that Labrador is by far the wildest place I've been, true frontier and that includes Alaska and the NW Territories, though the Yukno is pretty good.

As to the use of the Hoda CRV as a tow vehicle, the Honda worked like a charm. We did not have a single problem and the TLH is one tough road, I know no other like it. Yes we had to shift but that's what its for. Hondas only come in gas and 4 cylinder in the USA. In Europe you can get a 6 speed diesel, probably a better choice but what we had worked perfectly and got a legit 20MPG, that was mostly 4th gear driving, a lot of 3rd and some 2nd on loose gravel and sometimes wet roads. Of course our trailer weighs only 2200 pounds.

It worked really well. I can't wait to see what the air filter looks like.

I'm glad to answer any questions and provide trip information.
