Toggle switch above sink?

This is so minor it's silly but I have to ask. I just noticed a little toggle switch above the bathroom sink in my 83 T-1550 that I didn't notice before. It's very high up on the wall, and metal, not plastic like the light and water pump switches. It doesn't seem to do anything. I'm wondering what it is (or was) supposed to do. Possibly a vent fan was in there before? Is this an original or an add-on? Anyone have a clue? I sure don't.

Sorry, I can't really help you here. I don't remember anything like that in mine. I've posted some pics below. Feel free to look them over for a switch. The one by the door is for the interior light and water pump, which I'm sure you have too. My particular coach didn't have a porch light for some reason. Maybe that switch is for a porch light, and the bulb is burned out? It seems odd that it would be mounted in such an unusual location. Also, I'm posting some exterior pics so you can look to see if there's anything on the outside that would have a switch.

Actually I have the same switches by the door, but they are for the water pump and the porch light. I'm guessing it's something somebody added. I've found a lot of unused and re-routed wiring in this trailer....

By the way, your trailer looks great...have you put a lot of work into it, or were you lucky enough to have bought it in that condition?

I had a 1550 similar to Jon's in the early 90's. Mine did not have a fan in the vent in the bathroom ceiling, but my last two Sunlines have had them. Is it possible that a previous owner installed one in your trailer and wired it to the switch above your sink? If so, it could be a bad switch or motor that accounts for nothing happening when you throw the switch.

That was my first thought too, but it must have been removed since then. There is no fan anymore, just a crank up vent.

Funny story about that 1550. I bought it in April of '04 from a dealer who had it (hadn't advertised it though) and took it in from an insurance company. I payed $651 for it (600 plus tax + title) and it had a hole in the roof. Here's some pics I took on the day I went back to look at it thoroughly:

The hole in the roof was thanks to a tree branch, and the previous owners tried to claim the insurance to fix it, and the insurance company totaled it. They told the previous owner to take it to this certain dealer, who paid some unknown low price to buy it, and hoped to get rid of it.

It sure didn't look like much in those pics, but it cleaned up pretty good. The previous owner patched the hole with some sort of thin, flexible luan board and taped it over on the outside. Then, they covered the whole top of the trailer with that tarp. When I got it and investigated the damage, there was no water damage whatsoever.

Turns out, the hole (which was right above the stove) was right next to a roof joist. My dad just cut the hole bigger on both the inside and outside, cleaned out the insulation, made a 2x4 frame for the hole, and installed a standard (no fan) roof vent in the place. We got a deal on the (brand new) vent, so thats why the cover is smoke and not white.

The interior was quite dirty, but it cleaned up and there was really no damage or wear. Not even a roof leak. The only problem I found was the refer was broken. It didn't come with a battery and the LP tanks were the old style, so I left the tanks there and I put on the pair of 20#'s I had from my 2251, which I upgraded to 30#'s. I also had to get a battery for it.

The trailer was sold in August 2004 with the broken refer, but still for a profit.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have. It was a long time ago, but I do still remember some. Oh, BTW, if you have a moldy smell inside and can't find the source, pull the refer. I had to replace that board underneath it because it was completely rotted out.

I was just reading through my owner's manual, I think, or was it the Bill's Hints book that I picked up at the RV place when my trailer was being inspected...he says that there may be an additional water pump switch in the bathroom. I guess so if you go in there and realize that you had not turned on your water pump, you can do so before ever leaving that room. In my case, and I guess in yours too, I can see no one wanting to stay in that room longer than necessary

DH and I spent a night in my trailer when we had guests over this weekend. This is a great little trailer, but I watched twice as DH entered the bathroom and exited in the same position, he could not turn around in there. And he's not a huge guy!

We were thinking that going into aftermarket bathroom slides for small trailers would be a great idea!

Some RV's do have multiple water pump switches, like my parents MH for instance, has four: Kitchen, Toilet room, Bathroom, and Exterior Utility cabinet.

In all my experience with Sunline's, I've never known them to put multiple water pump switches. There's just the one on the range hood. The one way to tell if yours has it is if the water pump switch is spring loaded and with a light. This way, the light would be on when the pump has power on all switches but could be turned off from any one of them without a switch being left in the "on" position.
