Tire pressures

What is the recommended pressure on a 3000 lb trailer? My t1550 is around 2700 lb dry. Ive been running 35 psi, but it's a lil bouncy at times.

It's recommended you always run trailer tires at max sidewall PSI. If your 1550 has load range B tires, then 35 psi is good. If you have load range C tires, then you should run them at 50 psi.

Reason is, the tires are designed to carry a certain weight capacity, but that weight capacity is at max sidewall pressure. That weight capacity significantly decreases when tire pressure decreases, so you can overload the tires with less pressure, increasing the chance of tire failure.

Unfortunately it being bouncy is just the nature of a single axle.

Yes, these ST trailer tires need all the help they can get. They will run cooler at max side wall pressure. They also have a 65mph max speed rating on most of them. Too much heat over 65. They now have newer ST tires with a higher speed rating which can help with the heat issues, but 65 is plenty towing a camper for many other reasons.

The tandem axle campers create even more heat from dragging the tire around a turn.

Hope this helps

John

Yes...I just got em up to 50 psi and it made a drastic improvement! 65 mph is usually where I'm...I have an infrared thermometer and am curious now as to temps after driving.
