Television for movie fans

Well we finally went out for the first time this weekend. Amazingly, everything went quite well thanks to the information that I've found on this site. This site is a tremendous resource particularly for newbies like me.

I know that it's supposed to be camping and roughing it is part of the fun, but I do like to watch a movie now and again. To some, I'm sure, this is overboard but I do have the space in the T2499 on the entertainment center so why not. I measured the area and filled it with a 32" HDTV.

The unit does have steel brackets in the back that could be used for permanent mounting, but for now I just set it on the floor next to the sofa and with the soft ride suspension it doesn't move a bit. Watching a Star Trek episode is like being in the ship! LOL!

Heres a photo of our first site. It wasn't very level. Of course it looks even worse because the camera wasn't level either!

If it's just the two of us, we like to watch a good movie after the campfire's out and it's quiet time. When we're camping with a group though, we don't bother bringing the telly. We're usually just too tired to make it through a movie!

We browse the Dollar stores and even some Wally Worlds for $1 DVD's. Many of them are okay movies from the 50's and 60's and the 50's sci fi's are a riot by today's standards. They're all entertaining. We find many with several half hour shows such as Donna Reed, The Rifleman, Dick Van Dyke, Flash Gordon, etc for when we can't make an entire movie after the camp fire goes out. All for a buck!

WOW, I didn't realize that the dollar stores had those old TV classics. I'm going to check on that, locally. Those half hour and hour series shows are sometimes great viewing. They really take you back to a simpler more pleasant time!

Thanks for the tip!

We have also found $1 DVs at our local Walgreens drug store.

Maybe we need a sticker on the campers to identify Sunline Dollar Movie People which tells the world that we have movies to swap. I do have many and would be glad to share if I see any of you at a camp site one day.

Another great place are Pawn Shops. I like to browse through some just to see if there are any good deals.

We were in one the other day and they had a huge selection of DVD's for $1 up to $5.

We also were at another campground and were talking with a couple about our DVD collection. They looked through ours while we looked through theirs and swapped a few movies we both wanted to watch.

Makes for a great way to see stuff for free.
