Tank Monitor - what is

Of all the information in the notebook that came with my camper, I cannot find anything on the tanks themselves or the tank monitor panel. I also checked the KIB website, but could not find any type of manual.

Can anyone tell me what the two lights are that are located between the switches on the bottom of the panel. One is labeled 'DSI FLT'. The other one is not labeled, and may not be used.

Thanks!

The DSI FLT stands for Direct Spark Ignition Fault. It indicates a problem in the lighting of the gas powered ignition system on the water heater, usually a failure to ignite. Unknown what the other light is for, possibly another option indicator that is not included with your TT. Cheaper to make one style of panel and just change the face plate markings as needed.

My guess is it has something to do with the WH. I originally thought that the water pump switch should light up when there's power to the pump, but the little light might come on when the pump is actually pumping.

However, upon looking at the pump switch only models, they don't have any small lights. So, I think when you flick the gas switch, the switch itself should light when the heater is trying to light. Then, I think the small light will come on when when the heater is reheating. I am led to believe this because the non-DSI models have a unlabeled light like this also.

My 2004 T2499 has the same panel

The DSI is like what Bobo stated. It is a fault on the Atwood HW heater. If you do not purge the LP gas sometimes, after 3 spark ignition cycles trying to light the heater, it will go out on safety. The little DSI light comes on. Or when flame is lost and it is suppose to be on.

To reset you have to turn all 12 volts off to the heater. Turn LP gas rocker switch off, turn ele HW rocker switch off, if it is on, wait a few seconds, then turn the LP gas rocker back on and you get 3 more tries until it faults out on safety again.

The other little light between Water pump and LP gas heater, does nothing on mine (year 2004). I never pulled it apart, but there is no fault circuit on the Shurflo water pump or feed back either that it is pumping other then the bam bam, bam of giggling pipes. I suspect it is like Bobo said, An option we do not have.

Hope this helps

John

That makes sense. I had tried to light the HW heater, but of course it did not light. I turned the switch off and back on, and it lit OK. I thought the light was on, but now it was not.

I thought maybe the FLT was fault, but could not make anything up for the DSI - So Direct Spark Ignition works for me.

I am curious if anyone else has any documentation about the tanks in the notebook that came with their camper. I am surprised that nothing was in mine given the amount of material that seems to cover just about everything else from top to bottom(roof to tires) and front to back(hitch to bumbper).

And thanks for the response!

I've never seen anything, however, your Appliance ID sheet should give the sizes and manufacturer of the tanks. If I recall, the manufacturer of mine is something like B+D. I suppose you could Google it and find the company to see what they're made out of.

This is a link to the KIB control panel, maybe you can get your answer there.
