T2499 Kitchen Sink Covers

I have the 2007 Solaris T2499 and I would like to know where I can purchase covers for my kitchen sinks, which will enable to me to have more counter space.

Look at the Camping World web site. Oak sink covers are $30.00 each and plastic for a little bit more. Keep an eye on the sale items column and you can get them cheaper. In my 2499, we have the oak style and the wood topper for the stove top. They give a lot more counter space. Well worth the price.

Itchin' for springtime.

Hey Bobo, do you have any pictures of how they look installed? I too wanted to find a pair of these, but when we looked at the ones at Camping World, they didnt look like they would fit that tight?

Cindy and I were actually thinking about finding a plumbing fixture warehouse and getting a sink that might have a lip around the edge so we could have custom toppers made. I know a few of my camp mates have different sinks in their coaches and they have sink toppers that fit very snug in them.

Same with our bathroom sink. I wouldnt mind getting a deeper sink in there too.

Please share some pictures with and without so we can all compare.

I have to get together with my computer tech (DW) to post photos (yes, I am a dumkopf with the computer), but the fit is good due to the rubber feet are on diagonal slides for fit adjustment. I'll try to get back with the evidence.

Here are a couple of pictures of the cutting board I purchased at camping world. Look closely at the second picture and you can see the slots that allow the rubber feet to adjust to the size of the sink.

I would love to cover both sinks, but the board overlaps the middle, so a second would not work very well.

David

Thanks for that pic

Another "upgrade" will now be in the works. Those feet keep the top for sliding sideways which our direct from Sunline cutting board sink cover really does slide.

To fit 2 of those over one sink, do you have access to a bench saw or radial arm saw? A good sharp blade and you can trim the middle to allow 2 side by side. The straight smooth cut should blend well it well.

Thanks

John

Thanks David for the picture.

Now it makes sence to me. Most of the others I've seen have a notch in the top of the sink for the cutting board to fit in and I couldnt figure out how this was going to sit in there.

Thank you for all your responses to my question. I will check out Camping World as you have suggested. I saw the cutting board you suggested but didn't purchased because I didn't think they would work. I will go back and get them. Again, thank you!

Better late than never. DW and I finally have crossed paths due to work schedules. Here are the pics of our kitchen toppers.

This is both the sink cover and the stove topper. The stove topper is a wood cutting board with a rubber non-slip bottom. It stays in place even when trailering. The sink cover has diagonal adjusters on the rubber feet to custom fit the basin. Both are removable to use elsewhere. Pic #1 is both covers.

Pic #2 - Sink cover in place.

Pic #3 - Bottom sides of both cutting boards.

The stove topper came from Camping World and included a plastic cutting sheet. The sink cover we bought from our dealer (Ballantyne RV) when we bought the 2499. Hope this info helps.

I believe the stove top cutting board is on sale at Camping world.

Don't have any pictures, but my wife also wanted more countertop space. She went down to the local countertop maker and had a couple of pieces of corian cut to fit our sink and stove-top. The countertop folks smoothed and rounded the edges as well.
Then DW used a spray adhesive on the back side and affixed some of that rubber weave cabinet-shelf liner.
Now, we have countertops color-matched to our interior that stay in place while we cruise down the road.

My 1950 came with a hard maple cutting board (about 1"-1 1/8" thick) with the rubber feet like shown above. The feet were not in a groove, just positioned near the corners so they held tight in the sink. Also worked on the counter as a cutting board. You could probably make one from a store bought cutting board with a jig saw or band saw. Just a suggestion...
