T-2054 Wiring Problems

I'm working on my 92 T-2054. I'm working on getting it ready for the year and found that the stove hood vent fan, light, and water pump do not work. I do not have current running to any of these switches. Where does that wire come from and what route does it take to get there?

Have you checked your 12 volt fuses?

I personally would put a known good fuse in just to be certain. I've experienced fuses that appear ok, but they aren't.

I checked all of the fuses with a test light and all were good. For some odd reason, everything works now, and I never could find the problem to fix it.

It could be a loose connection, either on the 12 volt hot side or the 12 volt ground side of that circuit. Is the water pump and the range hood on the fuse same circuit?

I suspect this issue might return in the future. Since it is working for the moment, this might be a good time to help a future search and destroy mission figuring out where that loose connection might be at.

Find the fuse that powers the range light/fan/water pump. Pull it out. Now, try and find out if there are any other light fixtures, fridge or items on that same fuse circuit. Hunt that out now which other things are on that fuse.

Then next time the water pump/range hood goes out, you can see if any of the others are out as well.

Thought being, they daisy chain in parallel the wiring, both the 12 volt hot and ground and either one of them can create the issue. They jump from fixture to fixture and it that chain gets broke, everything down stream goes out. This could be a gnd issue and not the hot side. The issue can be, where did the connection come loose? If there are 5 things on the circuit and the first 2 work but the last 3 do not (or any other combo) then you know a little more on what to start taking apart the wiring at the last working item. There may be wire nutted connections stuffed in the wall at each of theses items and one of them may be loose waiting to get wiggled once again.

On the newer campers, at least 2004 and forward, the water pump is on it's own fuse. And the range hood was on the galley lighting, the fridge and then the bath room 12 volt items. Back in 1992 that may not have had as large a fuse bank as they do in the later years and the water pump was tagged onto other items.

Hope this helps

John

Think it could be corrosion on the fuse socket too? Disturbing the fuse and putting it in a new place may have jumped it temporarily, but one bounce down the road could cause it to quit again.

Dielectric grease on the fuse prongs. Try it. It will stop corrosion .

Are you sure it was not every thing DC? It could have been the main 30 amp fuse connection.

It's probably behind a small door in the converter/charger (it's held closed with a small screw).

Could you elaborate on this? I'm not clear what an upgrade would be to my current one installed at the factory in 1995 or 1996.
