Slide Leaks and Brake Failure

All . . . . we have an 07 Solaris 286, and have had 2 problems that may be generic.

The first is a leaking slide. We drove in a real hard rain storm. Then when we opened the slide we found a lot of water at the base of the slide. The water was on the floor at the front edge of the slide. The front edge at the carpet was wet.

I know of another couple with the same model as ours and they had the same problem.

The other problem is that we had a problem with intermitent brake on one of the trailer wheels. The wire on the braking magnet was rubbing on the inside of the wheel, giving a short signal to the prodigy controller. The controller does not send a brake signal to the brake when this happens.

The shorting message I got from the Prodigy controller was SH for short and OL for overload.

Keep an eye out for both problems.

Ken,

Irt the slide leak, I assume you have seen the post from Mike about his slide leaking on his '06 264SR:

http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/ph...opic.php?t=971

As for the brake wire problem, I hadn't heard of that at all. I'd suggest trying to wrap the wire in electrical tape as a temporary solution, but you should consider splicing it up near the frame, putting a piece of shrink tubing in the bad area, and reconnecting the whole thing again. I'd suggest using shrink tubing when reconnecting too since water can really be a problem down in that area.

No, I did not see this post. I looked under the trailer but did not see the gap they were talking about. I will have to re-visit my SR 286. Thanks a lot for the link.

As to the trailer wheel brake magnet, I had the magnet and wiring replaced. Works okay.
