securing slider window?
Having been broken into once in our last 2653, I am concerned about how to secure our picture window in the 2363 so that I can leave it open a few inches in the campground for cross-ventilation. Has anyone solved this in theirs? The window "stopper" for a motorhome won't work...I thought of drilling a hole in the track and inserting "something"...any suggestions please? Janalee
P.S. be aware that the window behind the chair in a 2653 is an obvious entry point--they broke that window and then just reached in and opened the door!!! I then fastened white wire shelving on the inside of the frame to at least slow someone down.

I have never done this in the camper but have on sliding glass door. It may spark an idea for you to build on.
Cut a small board long enough to drop onto the sliding track that acts as a stopper board and the window cannot open any further. The length allows the window to be open as far as you want. It may need some screw or something to hang down into the track to not fall off the top of the track just laying there. To open the window the rest of the way, just lift it up out of there.
Hope this helps
John

That won't work JohnB since the window is curved and the wood slides right out...however, I clipped a strong metal 'office clip' onto the track next to the curve and it works as a stopper for a piece of board in the track..guess that will have to be my great MOD FOR THE DAY!! Lol! Not attractive but looks like it's going to work...Thanks.....Janalee

Janalee,
Thanks for the warning! Geez, never really thought that someone could break in via the picture window in the 2363. Gonna "borrow" your MOD and try one of the clamp-style clips as a "window stop" on that window. Thanks again.

Lisa...slide the clip all the way to the left and THEN put the board in...When I finally get around to it,I will find a piece of dowel about 12 to 15" long to use..maybe spray them both black so they won´t be so obvious. I don't like having to close and lock the window each time I leave for a short time...however, the other breakin and robbery is still fresh in my mind.
Another thing I have done on each camper,is install a hook and eye lock on the screen door..one that has a spring safety catch on it...for those stops in rest areas or naptime in a campground. Also good for when you are away from the camper for a bit, then you reach in thru the door slide and open--however, others won't know about having to use the spring...be aware if you do this, you must remove the screen door 'hold open latch' or you can lock yourself out if the door closes...it will stick to the screen door latch!! This is very hard to explain but believe me since I speak from experience...I just remove the 'hold open latch' thingy on the big door and turn it upside down so it is there if I decide to change back. I may be a bit paranoid now but 'been there, done that'....Janalee

Somewhere a long time ago I saw a mini clamp that could clamp onto the window rail to keep the window from opening but can't find it now. Memory is the second thing to fail ... and I forget the first
I did come accross this clamp you can get here: S-5-E Mini Clamp for Euro-style Double Folded Seam

Gene..I have one of those types..used it in the moho..but the space on the Sunny track is too small..thanks anyway..but now I think this will work for me. I am not going to rely on it in a strange area but it will slow someone down from sliding the window open all the way.
As far as the memory thing--what were we talking about anyway, huh? Janalee
