Roof Leak

I started investigating a soft spot in the floor, and ended up removing the ceiling to find several leaky vent stacks that have soaked the ceiling, walls, and floor. Before I start the repairs, I want to seal the roof. My question is, how should I go about it? I know I need to caulk all the vents and stacks coming through the roof, then coat the roof but what products should I use and should I clean the roof with something first?

These 2 threads may help. I have an EPDM rubber roof. I do not know if yours is metal or rubber.

For Dicor roof caulk, wash the roof and let is dry completely. Then caulk

For the Eternabond, wash the roof as well, let is dry then prep the surface with Eterna Cleen or Acetone. Note: you only use this on the small places you are applying the Eternabond, not all over. Eternabond has some good instructions on their web site and the flyer that comes with the product.

Hope this helps and good luck. Need more info, ask away

John

PS I'm assuming you are talking about the caulk or over the top part. Not the Butyl sealing tape that goes under roof flanges etc. If not, let's talk some more on the sealing tape.

Thanks for the help. It's a metal roof and you're correct, I'm not dealing with the roof flanges. After I pulled the ceiling down, I could see daylight through several pinholes in the field of the roof and the bathroom vent stack is leaking. I'm thinking I just need to clean and caulk all the joints and put down a roof coating.

I do not know the metal roof coatings for campers. I do for mobile homes but that is different.

If the pin holes are localized, the Eternabond is an option for those. It will stick to clean metal, aluminum or steel very well once it is cleaned.

Good luck

John
